07 septembre - Ultime étape à vélo de Canon Beach à Florence et Eugene.
Bonjour à tous, Désolé pour le silence, l'Oregon se situe dans le Nord-Ouest des États Unis où le télégraphe ne fonctionne pas toujours correctement!!! Après avoir touché et plongé dans le Pacifique à Astoria, j'ai continué plein sud sur cette côte de l'Oregon. Besoin de quelques jours de plus, seul sur mon vélo, peut être pour réaliser tout ce trajet depuis Voiron et ressentir cet océan Pacifique. Je vous fait suivre quelques photos pour vous donner envie de venir visiter ce coin du Nord-Ouest des États Unis. *Hello everyone,* Sorry for the silence, but Oregon is located in the northwestern part of the U.S. where the telegraph does not always work correctly! After touching and diving into the Pacific at Astoria, I continued south on the Oregon coast. I need a few more days, only on my bike, perhaps to realize what this trip from Voiron has been and feel this Pacific Ocean. Here are a few pictures to make you want to visit this corner of the Pacific Northwest, United States.
Au sud de Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock, un stack de 72 mètres de hauteur. Il est réputé pour être la troisième plus haute structure dans le monde qui ne peut être atteint depuis le sol. Il est aussi un refuge pour de nombreux oiseaux marins. *South of Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock, 72 meters high. It is reputed to be the third tallest structure in the world that cannot be reached from the ground. It is also a refuge for many sea birds.*

Nehalem Bay formée par la confluence de la rivière Nehalem. *Nehalem Bay formed by the confluence of the Nehalem River.*
A l'ouest de la baie, Nehalem Bay State Park est situé sur le banc de sable séparant la baie de l'océan, où les élans, coyotes et plusieurs espèces d'oiseaux vivent. Le parc dispose d'une longue plage, où des épaves centenaires espagnoles peuvent être trouvés. To the west of the bay, Nehalem Bay State Park is located on the sand bar that separates the bay from the ocean, where elk, coyotes and many species of birds live. The park has a long beach, where old Spanish wrecks can be found.
Un peu d'histoire pour comprendre l'origine du fleuve Columbia. Robert Gray (1755 – 1806) fut un capitaine de marine marchande et un explorateur américain. Il commanda le premier bateau américain qui fit le tour du monde en 1790 et fut le premier à entrer dans la rivière Columbia en 1792. A little history to understand the origin of the Columbia River. Robert Gray (1755–1806) was a captain in the merchant navy and an American explorer. He commanded the first American ship that went all the way around the world in 1790 and was the first to enter the Columbia River in 1792.
La baie de Tillamook, connue surtout pour ses produits laitiers. *The Tillamook Bay, known for its dairy.*
Voilà pourquoi on y trouve des fermes. *That's why there are farms.*
Mon cap maintenant n'est plus plein ouest... mais plein sud. *My course is now not due west ... but south.*

Le tsunami est une réalité sur cette côte. L'histoire peut elle se répéter? *Tsunamis have also hit this coast. Can history repeat itself?*
Pour vous prévenir si l'envie vous prend de venir visiter cette côte... Ne comptez pas sur un soleil permanent! *Just in case you fancy visiting this coast ... Don’t count on permanent sun!*
Keith, un cycliste de Virginie en route pour San Francisco depuis Seattle. Un brin de conversation et un échange d'adresse car Keith va débarquer un jour sur notre vieux continent à la recherche de ses racines écossaises du côté de sa mère et huguenots du sud de la France du côté de son père. Keith, a cyclist from Virginia en route to San Francisco from Seattle. We briefly chatted and exchanged addresses because Keith will land one day on our old continent in search of his Scottish roots on his mother’s side and Huguenots in the south of France on his father’s side.

Bon, je ne veux pas vous saturer d'images. Peut être un jour vous viendrez parcourir cette côte de l'Oregon. Alors voici une dernière photo de ce rivage. Florence est au bout des dunes. Ensuite je prendrai plein Est pour Eugene ou je vais arrêter de pédaler. Well, I do not want to bore you with too many pictures. Maybe someday you will come see the Oregon coast. So here's one last photo of the shore. Florence is at the end of the dunes. Then I will head due east to Eugene where I'll stop pedaling.
Rencontre avec des Québécois un peu avant Eugene. Curieux de mon vélo et de mon périple, j'ai eu droit à un délicieux cocktail de jus de fruits avec une proposition pour planter ma tente sur un terrain en Gaspésie. J'ai apprécié le cocktail mais pour l'offre de camping... Pas sur que je puisse arriver avant l'hiver!!! Meeting with Quebec just before Eugene. Curious about my bike and my journey, I got a delicious cocktail of fruit juice with a proposal to pitch my tent on a field in Gaspé. I enjoyed the cocktail but the camping offer ... Not sure I can get there before winter!

Une brève rencontre ce matin dans un café à Eugene. Quelques mots échangés et à ma grande surprise ce cycliste dont je ne connais pas le nom et venu me dire au revoir à la gare en m'offrant une bouteille de bière locale et m'a souhaité un bon retour. A brief meeting this morning in a cafe in Eugene. Exchanged a few words and to my surprise this biker whose name I don’t know came to say goodbye at the station with a bottle of local beer and wished me a good return home.

Septembre, c'est le mois des rentrées, ce que je m'apprête à faire, car je viens de mettre mon vélo dans le train pour Portland et je réalise que le voyage est arrivé à son terme. Je tiens à vous dire que j'ai partagé ce bout de chemin et ces rencontres avec grand plaisir, des mots simples mais chargés d'émotion. Encore un grand MERCI pour tous vos messages, vos SMS et appels téléphoniques qui sont d'un grand réconfort lorsque l'on voyage seul. Vous l'aurez compris, sans l'aide et le soutien de Rémy, ce site n'aurait certainement pas vu le jour.
