After 4 days at sea with two stops, I’m discovering the world of maritime shipping and life aboard a container ship. I’ve been progressively meeting the crew because they all are busy working. This all takes time and the established codes must be observed. The crew is mostly Filipino and I’m finding it difficult to get used to their pronunciation in English.
I must admit that it’s a bit strange having so much time on your hands, outside one’s daily routine and in such small quarters, but I’m getting organized and I’ve discovered a small library where French-speaking passengers have left their books. See you soon. Photo: View from the captain’s perch where I was allowed to spend an hour. |
